Amazon Web Services (AWS) Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges, guiding customers as they refactor applications or design entirely new cloud-based systems.

About the role

The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) drives revenue, adoption, and growth from small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers, including public sector. This role sits within WWSO as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designing Graph architectures that leverage Amazon Neptune. You will partner closely with the Database Services team, Business Development, and Sales to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive AWS adoption and revenue.

You will develop white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers and partners to fully leverage AWS and Amazon Neptune. You will also create field enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect population to help them integrate AWS caching services into customer architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer; bring feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to domain-aligned GTM teams to unblock customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
  • Act as a thought leader by sharing best practices through AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public-speaking events (e.g., AWS Summit, AWS re:Invent).
  • Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best-in-class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide.
  • Create field enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect population to help them integrate AWS solutions into customer architectures.
  • Foster technical trusted advisor relationships with influential technical decision-makers to further AWS service adoption.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solutions architect community.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries (10+ years preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent, or 7+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, hardware, storage, network, security, database administration, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams across geographies and business units.
  • 5+ years of design and implementation experience with Graph Databases such as Neo4J or TigerGraph, including Graph data modeling and query languages.
  • Understanding of computing deployment models as they relate to databases and analytics.
  • Working knowledge of modern software development practices such as agile methodologies and DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert-level experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills with comfort speaking to executives, IT management, and developers.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect) or similar cloud certification.
  • History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database services, particularly Amazon Aurora, Lambda, Amazon Neptune, Amazon OpenSearch, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Amazon EC2 Container Service, or Amazon Kinesis.

Pay

  • USA, IL, Chicago: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, MA, Boston: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, NY, New York: $169,000.00 - $228,600.00 USD annually
  • USA, TX, Austin: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, VA, Arlington: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually

Compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
