About the role
Amazon Neptune is a fast, scalable, fully-managed graph database service designed for storing and querying highly connected datasets. The core of Amazon Neptune is a high-performance graph database engine optimized for storing hundreds of billions of relationships and delivering queries with milliseconds latency.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver new algorithms and features that drive Neptune's high availability, reliability, and performance guarantees to AWS customers.
- Participate in project execution to develop database service capabilities while working with amazing team members.
- Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve root cause defects.
- Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
- Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.
- Work in a startup-like development environment, where you're always working on the most important stuff.

Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Knowledge of database internals, query planning and optimization and/or storage performance and efficiency
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
