About the role
The Senior Financial Analyst performs all duties related to financial close, costing, FP&A, budgeting, and setting/analyzing standard costs. They support safety programs for the plant and are responsible for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (Section 404) and BOS (Business Operating System).
Responsibilities
- Performs financial analysis of operating results including analysis of Volume / Mix / Price and Standard Margin.
- Analyzes material and labor costs to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Develops and provides accurate and timely production, material and labor operating metrics reporting to plant management.
- Analyses, explains and documents any unusual variances.
- Maintains the plant’s Cost Accounting systems including updating the MFG/PRO Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), reconciles the MFG/Pro MBOM to the SAP BOM, analyzes and prepares annual standard costs, monthly actual cost roll-ups and analysis of variances from standard costs.
- Works with the Materials Department to ensure accurate BOM and an accurate income statement can be submitted for each month's business.
- Provides accurate and timely data for the Best Business Practices (BBP) reporting system.
- Assists in analyzing the Plant’s BBP results compared to the Global Best Plant in order to identify improvements in operating performance.
- As assigned by the Plant Controller, participates as a team member on continuous improvement projects.
- Performs analysis and review of all inventory balances in order to identify slow moving or obsolete inventories.
- Reviews results of perpetual inventory testing to identify potential internal control weaknesses.
- Works with the Materials Department to identify opportunities to reduce inventory days on hand.
- Revises performance records, anticipates sales and costs to assist in completion of business forecasts and the annual profit plan.
- Ensures proper account distribution for item expenses, inventories, fixed assets, etc.
- As assigned by the Plant Controller, completes general accounting activities, including month end closing, journal entries and reporting.
- Ensures timely month end closings and timely reporting into all reporting systems (Hyperion, SAP, CI, ITS, VA/VE, BBP, Quality etc.).
- Captures and coordinates the taking of monthly, quarterly and annual physical inventory to assure accurate inventories.
- Completes all financial, governmental reports as assigned by the Plant Controller.
- Maintains the accuracy of balance sheet accounts as assigned by the Plant Controller ensuring that account reconciliations are completed monthly/quarterly as scheduled.
- Assists as directed by the Plant Controller related to year-end audit requirements regarding timing and completion as they pertain to the plant.
- Captures and assists in coordinating the non-production departments' annual profit plan and quarterly forecasts.
- Assists non-production department managers in analyzing actual to budget variances.
- Assists Plant Controller in the annual audit and federal and state tax compliance.
- Aids in developing financial policies and procedures and ensures compliance by the plant.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting
- Minimum 3-5 Years of experience with some Manufacturing. Automotive is a plus
- Exceptional skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Experience with financial systems required
- MFG Pro/SAP/HFM applications preferred
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings by verbal or presentation format
