Responsibilities
- Work alongside engineers to create technical design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents for existing and future systems
- Create new and update any legacy documents already developed
- Use engineering documentation, operator and maintenance manuals, logistics data, and direction from engineers to create, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documents
- Research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manuals
- Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities, prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer
- Lead, Coach and Mentor Junior Technical Writing Staff
Requirements
- Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements
- Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 8 + years of engineering related technical writing experience
- In lieu of formal education, equivalent related experience is accepted.
- Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
- Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics
- Proven ability to prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer
- Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to new information and programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience researching, reviewing and understanding technical information as well as developing procedural information for technical documentation
- Previous experience with video training and capturing images with a camera, photo manipulation
- Working knowledge and experience with space, engineering support, or IT related projects
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro
Skills
- CAD products, including but not limited to AutoCad & SolidWorks
- Experience working with NASA technical documents related to technical manual development, delivery, and integrated logistics support
Pay
Basic Compensation: $102,700 - $168,000
The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
