Responsibilities
- Supports Energy Management Systems (EMS) power systems applications portfolio including Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Frequency Control, Dynamic Stability Analysis, Load Forecasting, and Operator Training Simulator (OTS).
- Designs, develops, tests, validates, and implements modifications and enhancements to EMS applications.
- Serves as the technical Subject Matter Expert for the department and drives the implementation of EMS portfolio projects from incubation to go-live.
- Works independently on assignments and projects, participating in multifunctional teams to perform studies and assist in the development of tools, processes, and procedures that enhance system reliability and organizational efficiencies.
- Trains and oversees the work of other engineers/analysts, and acts as a consultant and subject matter expert in project and activity areas affecting EMS and OTS environments and applications.
- Supports the execution of Disaster Recovery Drills and business continuity procedures.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and escalates EMS and OTS applications and interfaces as necessary.
- Performs EMS network model load testing and updates the model data in real-time based on established procedures.
- Coordinates application setup and testing with Transmission and Distribution System Operators (TDSPs), Quality and Safety Engineers (QSEs), Load Serving Entities (LSEs), and Retail Entities (REs) as appropriate.
- Supports the 24/7 EMS Applications Engineering support team, troubleshooting EMS applications and systems on call issues.
- Assists in proactive enhancements, improvements, and issue remediation.
- Participates in interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings, providing application support and representing the EMS Applications Engineering Team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience with GE or any EMS vendor's suite of EMS applications, experience with Data Historians such as OSIsoft PI, and experience with programming languages like FORTRAN, C, C++, Java, and Perl.
- EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Required); Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Preferred).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Preferred)
- Experience with programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, Java, and Perl
- Experience with Data Historians such as OSIsoft PI
- Experience with PL/SQL

Pay
$120,000 - $165,000
Schedule
Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management. On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager. Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
