Sr. EHS Engineer
About the role
The role of EHS Engineer in Process Safety Management at 3M involves collaborating with innovative colleagues around the world to support EHS cultural excellence, drive risk reduction efforts, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Support EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment.
- Apply scientific and engineering principles to manage EHS risks and ensure compliance.
- Lead and assist in safety committees and meetings, including EHS regulatory interpretations.
- Provide technical assistance in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, industrial automation, and management of change processes.
- Participate in and lead portions of EHS self-assessments and/or audits.
- Act as a facility representative during agency inspections, including OSHA, fire department, and county inspections.
- Communicate effectively with peers and others at various levels within the organization, presenting ideas and influencing others.
- Investigate workplace incidents and conduct root cause analyses to implement corrective actions.
- Analyze EHS data and recommend plans for correcting gaps in compliance.
- Contribute to the plant's Management of Change process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years’ experience with EHS programs and procedures within a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Experience in implementing comprehensive EHS management systems.
- Experience with hazard and risk assessments and a background in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with computer-based EHS tools for data reporting and assessments.
- Experience with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, Fire, EPA, etc.
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, leadership, project planning, and program development skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-EHS personnel and influence others to take appropriate action.
- Experience working on a cross-functional team.
- QEP, CSP, or CIH certification(s).
Qualifications
- Ten (10) or more years of experience working in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role in a manufacturing environment addressing process safety management, machine guarding, and confined space issues.
- Experience working on a cross-functional team.
- Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.
