Sr EHS Engineer
Responsibilities
The Sr. EHS Engineer at Howmet Aerospace’s Canton, OH location plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a culture that aligns with Howmet's EHS goals and objectives, driving continuous improvement.
- Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a safe and timely manner.
- Act as a key EHS liaison with manufacturing and maintenance organizations, supporting their strategic and tactical EHS plans.
- Develop and implement safety and health programs and activities to meet regulatory requirements and Howmet policies.
- Aid in coordinating human performance (HP) implementation, including critical 9+ compliance audits of employee behaviors and plant activities.
- Facilitate the implementation of safety and health systems, including industrial hygiene programs and other health-related requirements.
- Participate in incident review teams to ensure prompt and thorough reviews, make appropriate corrective action recommendations, and document item closures.
- Identify and develop relationships with federal, state, and local authorities, as well as internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct H & S training programs.
- Oversee the review process for temporary accommodations and serve as the single point of accountability for worker's compensation case management.
- Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital S&H projects to ensure compliance with requirements and timely completion.
- Recommend HS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance at all levels.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, at least 1 year of environmental, health or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- PREFERRED Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, safety or health discipline from an accredited institution, 3 years of environmental, health or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
