About the Role
The Sr Director Business System, Global is a senior-level expert responsible for the design and roll out of the commercial part of the business system. This strategic role focuses on end-to-end value streams and building elements that drive significant growth. The leader will play a critical role in embedding Lean thinking into Johnson Controls' strategy execution, performance improvement, customer outcomes, and culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership, setting strategic direction for the business system across the global enterprise.
- Oversee the enterprise Lean Business System, methodologies, tools, and standards; establish governance structures, performance dashboards, and sustainment mechanisms.
- Partner with executive and senior leadership to understand priorities, drive strategic initiatives, and improve the business system.
- Identify and mitigate risks impacting customer outcomes, operational performance, quality, delivery, and long-term results.
- Drive the deployment of business system standards and support global leaders in adoption.
- Coach and develop senior leaders to model Lean behaviors and teach advanced Lean concepts.
- Drive change management by coaching leaders on key behaviors.
- Deploy enterprise strategy using Hoshin Kanri for consistent execution across regions and functions.
- Define, design, and implement the business system globally (transactional).
- Develop and deploy Lean practices to improve speed, quality, alignment, and outcomes.
- Support integration across Commercial and Service functions.
- Lead large-scale improvement initiatives aligned with enterprise strategy.
- Identify cross-functional opportunities and standardize efforts across the enterprise.
- Coach leaders on using the business system to deliver results.
- Perform root-cause analysis on critical problems and drive process-focused solutions.
- Use change management frameworks to improve leadership and collaboration.
- Utilize digital and AI solutions to accelerate business system deployment.
- Partner with leadership to continuously improve the business system.
- Enable global synergies through best-practice sharing and standardization.
- Mentor business system leaders in using vehicles and tools.
- Foster innovation by introducing new CI techniques and tools.
- Oversee Lean maturity assessments and roadmap development.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, Quality, Engineering, or related field.
- 10–15 years of experience in Continuous Improvement across multiple domains.
- 5-10 years in business roles using a Lean business system.
- Significant experience with mature Lean business systems.
- Proven leadership in enterprise transformations with measurable impact.
- Demonstrated ability to lead senior leaders through influence.
- Mastery of Lean systems, cultural transformation, and change leadership.
- Effective communication and presentation skills across levels and geographies.
- Proven analytical and systems-thinking capability.
- Excellent facilitation and strategic-thinking skills.
- Proactive risk management and issue-resolution skills.

Pay
Hiring salary range: $156,000–245,000. Salary determined by education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data. Competitive bonus plan and benefits package included.
