Sr Director, BD and Sales, CCMDs
About the role
BlackSky is a real-time intelligence company that owns and operates the world's most advanced space-based intelligence platform. We provide satellite imagery, automated analytics, and high-frequency monitoring services to the US Government and commercial entities. The Senior Director of Business Development, Unified Combatant Commands (CCMDs) and Service Components, will lead BD and sales efforts within the defense agencies of the US Government.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal division technology leaders and key internal stakeholders in the division on BD and sales opportunities, setting sales strategy, tactics, proposals, and negotiations for new product solutions as well as coordinating qualified new business capture and sales with government agencies.
- Build trust and lasting relationships with current and future customers to identify their needs and map them with BlackSky capabilities.
- Lead sales capture efforts for advanced programs and new technical solutions for the customer that align to the business growth strategies of the division.
- Lead complex negotiations with industry partners to build teams supporting large procurements and capture support for technical bids, including identifying and comprehending clients’ requirements and buying patterns.
- Evaluate opportunities for organic and new business growth, solve technical questions, work with other BlackSky technical experts to coordinate, and refine and tailor innovative solutions achieve sales objectives.
- Create and sustain classified communications pursuits for BlackSky, working with existing BD and Program Management Staff.
- Responsible for market growth and expansion.
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Required Qualifications
- Must have Active IC/DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance and be willing and able to obtain CI Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of experience working with the CCMD and Service Component Intelligence and Operations organizations.
- At least 15 years of domain experience in space/satellite operations, ISR, and GEOINT.
- A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience with at least 3 years in sales in the National Security space (Defense, the Military Services and the Intelligence Community), to include proposal development, preparation, analysis, writing, and reviews.
- Active Top-Secret clearance, with SCI eligibility.
- Demonstrated success as both an individual contributor and leader on government proposal efforts.
- Proven ability to drive key client communication and expectations, both internally and externally.
- Superior complex problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration or finance.
- Experience managing opportunity pipeline in Salesforce.
- Experience in multiple IC, DoD agencies and/or Joint assignments.

Pay Range
The anticipated salary range for candidates in Virginia is $200,000-$225,000 per year with variable compensation eligibility. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education.
