Sr. Dir, SVODs Product Marketing
About the role
The Senior Director, SVODs Product Marketing is a critical strategic leadership role within DIRECTV's Revenue Marketing organization. This position is accountable for advancing DIRECTV's enterprise super aggregation strategy by owning the end-to-end development, execution, and optimization of the Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) portfolio across all DIRECTV platforms. This leader is responsible for multi-million-dollar annual revenue and serves as the primary driver of SVOD marketing strategy—from the ideation of go-to-market approaches to the execution of campaigns that acquire, retain, and grow DIRECTV's subscriber base.
The Senior Director leads and develops a dedicated SVOD marketing team, manages all SVOD partner relationships, and collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Finance, Analytics, and Content to ensure the SVOD portfolio delivers against business objectives. This role requires a strategic, analytically rigorous, and executive-ready leader with deep expertise in subscription-based businesses, streaming, and digital media.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Ownership
- Own and drive the end-to-end SVOD strategy across all DIRECTV platforms, ensuring alignment with DIRECTV's enterprise super aggregation vision.
- Set annual and multi-year goals for the SVOD portfolio; develop and execute strategic plans to achieve those goals.
- Monitor portfolio performance continuously, leveraging data and analytics to identify trends, optimize strategy, and inform business decisions.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on the SVOD landscape, competitive positioning, and subscriber behavior.
- Marketing Strategy & Execution
- Lead the SVOD team in developing and executing integrated marketing strategies across all major marketing channels and business lines.
- Develop and own compelling value propositions, messaging frameworks, and competitive positioning to drive SVOD subscriber acquisition and retention.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Product, Analytics, Digital, Creative, and Brand—to ensure cohesive and effective marketing execution.
- Identify customer friction points and develop proactive strategies and campaigns to reduce churn and improve customer satisfaction (NPS).
- Analyze campaign performance data to understand results, inform future strategies, and continuously optimize marketing effectiveness.
- Revenue & Financial Accountability
- Own and be accountable for multi-million-dollar annual SVOD revenue performance.
- Partner with Finance to develop accurate forecasts, manage budgets, and ensure the SVOD portfolio meets or exceeds revenue targets.
- Evaluate business process changes and lead implementation across the organization to drive revenue growth and operational efficiency.
- Partner Relationship Management
- Manage all SVOD partner relationships, serving as DIRECTV's primary point of contact for SVOD content and distribution partners.
- Negotiate and collaborate with partners to develop joint marketing programs, promotional initiatives, and co-marketing strategies.
- Build and sustain strong, productive relationships that advance DIRECTV's content aggregation strategy.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SVOD marketing team, setting clear expectations and driving accountability.
- Direct staffing, planning, and budgeting for the SVOD function; recommend and implement organizational and methodological changes to maximize team effectiveness.
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative team culture that rewards innovation and continuous improvement.
- Determine future talent needs and build a pipeline of capable, growth-oriented team members.
- Executive Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Regularly present SVOD strategy, performance results, and recommendations to senior leadership and executive audiences.
- Participate with other senior leaders to establish strategic plans and organizational objectives.
- Synthesize complex data and market intelligence into clear, executive-ready narratives and recommendations.
Requirements
- Required Experience
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in marketing, product marketing, or a related discipline—ideally with significant exposure to subscription-based businesses.
- 4–10 years of direct people management experience (managing 2 or more direct reports).
- Demonstrated expertise in streaming, digital media, or entertainment marketing.
- Proven track record of owning and delivering against significant revenue goals ($100M+).
- Experience managing external partner relationships, including negotiation and co-marketing execution.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field required.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred (or equivalent years of additional experience).

- Deep strategic marketing expertise, with the ability to develop and own long-range marketing strategy for a major product portfolio.
- Strong analytical capabilities; ability to leverage performance data, market insights, and financial metrics to drive decisions and optimize outcomes.

- Deep familiarity with the streaming and SVOD competitive landscape, including key players, market dynamics, and consumer behavior trends.
- Experience with customer acquisition and retention marketing, including churn reduction strategies and NPS improvement programs.

Pay
DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive. The base salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for DIRECTV's 4 US Labor Market Zones:
- Low (N1): $162,593 - $243,789
- Mid (N2): $171,150 - $256,620
- High (N3): $188,265 - $282,282
- Top (N4): $196,823 - $295,113
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The salary ranges reflect base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits.
Schedule
- This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States, with the exception of Alaska.
- Approximately 5% travel may be required.
