About the Role

This role is responsible for driving Quality and Standard Work initiatives across the Configuration Management and Product Definition Engineering (CMPD) organization. As a member of the General Manager’s staff, the Quality Leader will collaborate closely with process leaders to establish robust and sustainable processes which meet our customer’s needs with first time quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CMPD’s implementation of ISO 9001, QMS, audit and surveillance processes.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of standard work across CMPD teams for the following quality categories:
    • Product quality – drawing/model correctness
    • Standard Work and Quality Procedure Management – work instructions/procedures; how to document/measure quality, metrics, etc.
    • Tools quality – ensuring application rollouts include a control mechanism for improvement and validation of effectiveness (usage, time savings, etc.) and maintaining coding standards
    • Data quality – master data management of critical objects and attributes; health of data between interfacing systems (i.e. PLM->ERP); ties to product quality in PLM and of information flow upstream and downstream
  • Own CMPD’s repositories of standard work (Confluence, etc.) and coordinate with process owners to ensure that standard work is documented, up-to-date, relevant, and visible to all stakeholders.
  • Work with the Gas Power Engineering quality value stream leaders to assess the current baselines for quality performance and determine the processes needing improvement using Lean methodologies.
  • Serve as CMPD’s representative to the Gas Power Engineering Quality organization.
  • Drive the implementation of Quality Metrics during monthly operating reviews and integration of preventive measures into standard work.
  • Own the tracking of NCR, including overall cost of quality.
  • Coordinate with the CMPD Lead Coach to identify and execute improvement projects & kaizen events throughout the year following the GPE Lean standard work.
  • Promote a culture of “Lean Thinking” among the Engineering People Leaders focused on Servant Leadership, Customer Focus and Employee Empowerment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in successfully managing programs/projects or driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills

  • Robust understanding of Product Definition Engineering (PDE) and Configuration Management Processes and Procedures.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, QMS, audit and surveillance processes.
  • Demonstrates the GE Leadership Behaviors: Act with Humility, Lead with Transparency, and Deliver with Focus.
  • Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching core tools such as Daily Management, structured Problem Solving, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement.
  • Specific experience in root causing and CAPA implementation.
  • Critical, systems thinker with the ability to bring others along, even those with conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable with conflict but leads as a collaborator, facilitator, and strong partner.
  • Data-driven but decisive despite ambiguity.
  • Clear, concise written and oral communications to the appropriate level.
  • Aptitude with analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Access, MS Access); specific skills include data-mining, pivot tables, data manipulation.
  • Experience with Tableau or other analysis visualization platforms.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Pay

The pay range for this U.S.-based position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility includes a discretionary annual bonus.
