About the Role

In this role, you will be focused on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation projects for local and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, complete, and manage a variety of municipal and some private owner-driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and develop construction, design documents, and plans.
  • Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.
  • Attend occasional project, city staff, and board meetings.
  • Communicate planning objectives for clients' current and future projects.
  • Prepare project proposals.
  • Assist with business development efforts and development of projects.
  • Interact with IDOT, IEPA, County, MWRD, and understand project submittals.
  • Serve as a team leader and mentor younger engineers.
  • Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies.
  • Conduct project field observation and condition assessments.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
  • 15+ years of related civil engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or actively seeking licensure.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities, including IDOT.
  • Experience working with municipal and private clients.
  • IDOT – MFT project experience a plus.
  • Sanitary sewer, water line, and stormwater management design experience a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoPak, SS4, MicroStation, or OpenRoads.
  • Team experience with multiple ongoing projects.
  • Contract development skills.
  • Construction engineering and observation knowledge.

Pay

Salary Range: $105,000 - $150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity).
