Position Summary
The Senior Bank Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for managing and executing all aspects of Selene’s compliance with investor, agency, regulatory (RegAB & USAP) requirements for the reconciliation and clearing of outstanding reconciling items for assigned bank accounts. Ensure GAAP, company finance policies, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are adhered to and met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all reconciliation functions are performed in compliance with company, investor and/or regulatory guidelines.
- Reconciliations of various accounts such as PI & TI custodial accounts for investors which could include FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, Private MBS or Special Servicing.
- Reconciliation of the Payment & Disbursement Clearing Accounts and ensure the prompt clearing of outages and facilitation of effective process deficiencies.
- Prepare the more complex reconciliations and test of cash.
- Ensures strict adherence to the Agency and Private Investor Servicing Agreements, Regulation AB, USAP and other guidelines for timely and accurate reconciling.
- Affirms reconciliation of accounts within 30 calendar-days clearance and reconciliation of items within 30 days from the point of identification.
- Routinely keeps abreast of latest relevant bank reconciliation, requirement changes.
- Ensure the timely reconciliation and resolution of appropriately aged items in assigned bank accounts.
- Ensure that proper internal controls exist and are applied consistently to prevent potential fraud and misallocation of funds.
- Compliance with controls and policy/procedures for area of responsibility.
- Develop department process flows while identifying and remediating on any potential process gaps.
- Act as liaison between departments, IT and/or vendors related to process issues and/or system enhancements.
- Responsible for facilitation and execution of ad-hoc reporting specific to Bank Reconciliations.
- Manage remediation of outstanding reconciling items ensure corrective application occurs timely and accurately.
- Help develop and maintain testing validation documentation for Bank Reconciliation’s process & system enhancements.
- Retrieve Bank Reconciliation KPI analytics using MSP Passport and Monarch reporting tools.
- Partner with internal and external business partners as applicable to perform Bank Reconciliation functions.
- Assist with the management of vendor and investor relationships.
- Execute on other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with payment & disbursement clearing account reconciliation; P&I T&I and bank reconciliation in mortgage servicing.
- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment.
- Ability to thrive in high pressure, ambiguous, short turnaround time environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and research skills and able to synthesize data.
- Outstanding attention to detail is required.
- Possess advanced MS Office Suite Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Proficient data retrieval skills using internal system tools, Data watch or Monarch experience; excel intermediate to advanced; run MSP passport, a plus.
- Possess analytical skills required to research and resolve reconciling item discrepancies.
- Ability to apply common sense reasoning skills to problem solving and account reconciliation.
- Solid organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow.
- Effectively interact with various departments, management, and vendor liaisons.
- Strong mathematical and reasoning skills are required.
- Ability to identify, evaluate and promote new technologies based on appropriate needs for line of business.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to solicit, and understand the needs of both technical and non-technical users.
- Must be a strategic thinker with solid overall business and financial acumen who is able to work effectively and cooperatively with others at all levels and varying skillsets.
- Ability to execute on deliverables with limited to no management guidance.
