Sr Financial Systems Analyst

About the role

HMH is a learning technology company dedicated to enhancing educational experiences through innovative solutions. This role is part of HMH's Finance/Treasury department, seeking a senior financial systems analyst with VBA expertise to drive automation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Access databases for financial and operational reporting.
• Develop VBA-based automation across Access, Excel, and Outlook to streamline processes.
• Extract, integrate, and transform data from various internal systems.
• Build new and use existing BI datasets to analyze trends and identify areas for improvement.
• Identify and automate manual and repetitive tasks across the teams.
• Work closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Clearly communicate insights and recommendations to ensure alignment.
• Manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Represent Accounts Receivable on ERP-related projects (SAP ECC 6.0, NetSuite/Oracle, SFDC, etc.).

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in custom solution-building and process engineering, preferably in finance.
• Hands-on experience building and managing large, complex relational databases.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, transformation, and automation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, and Outlook, including VBA.
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Proactive and comfortable working independently.
• Strong collaboration skills across Finance and IT teams.
• Ownership mindset—takes ideas from concept to execution.
