About the Role
International, boutique law firm is seeking a NY-Barred, Senior Debt Financing Attorney to join its team. This is an opportunity to work with highly accomplished individuals while maintaining a work-life balance (1400 billable hour requirement). Employees work a flexible hybrid schedule.
The ideal candidate will advise lenders and borrowers on complex, secured and unsecured lending transactions, with a focus on impact debt finance, cross-border secured lending, venture debt, and PRI lending for impact and blended capital structures.
Responsibilities
- Advise lenders and borrowers on complex secured and unsecured lending transactions, from deal inception to post-closing compliance and restructurings.
- Focus on impact lending to underserved communities and emerging markets in sectors such as solar finance, clean energy, public health, and affordable housing.
- Handle complex secured and unsecured lending transactions, including senior secured debt facilities, project financings, mezzanine financings, and venture debt solutions.
- Guide clients through impact lending, minimizing financial risk while maximizing social and environmental performance.
- Design innovative deal structures aligning financial and commercial objectives for lenders and borrowers.
- Draft and negotiate loan documents and related commercial agreements.
- Manage multiple high-value matters with sound judgment and attention to detail.
Requirements
- Admission to the New York Bar in good standing.
- At least 7 years of legal experience focused on debt finance and complex lending transactions.
- Prior training in a large law firm environment is preferred, with the ability to work independently on sophisticated matters.
- Demonstrated background in cross-border secured lending, venture debt, and impact-oriented financing structures.
- Experience representing both lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured credit transactions.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with financing work connected to underserved communities, emerging markets, or mission-driven investment sectors is preferred.
