General Purpose of Job
The Senior Associate will be responsible for overseeing tasks related to the financial reporting requirements for the Newell Brands global consolidation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of our financial reporting for our segments
- Analytically review results for each reporting unit and identify unexplained or unexpected variances and work with counterparts to resolve any potential issues
- Identify data validation issues and work to resolve
- Responsible for the accounting function maintaining restructuring and related accruals including recording journal entries, preparing reconciliations and roll-forwards
- Create and maintain consolidation adjustments for reporting units, as needed including reviewing foreign currency translation and ensure amounts are appropriate
- Facilitate the resolution of intercompany out-of-balance conditions
- Aid in accounting for areas such as corporate Treasury and Tax transactions
- Support supplemental reporting that directly impacts account roll forwards and the statement of cash flows including management of data flow from our main ERP system into HFM
- Understand our consolidation system (HFM) including requirements, reporting and system functionality
- Prepare select financial statements footnotes that support SEC filings in accordance with US GAAP
- Aid in special projects within the team as well as with other corporate departments or operating units, as needed
- Ensure businesses are adhering to financial policies, practices and procedures, including internal control protocols
- Work directly with internal and external auditors on specific requests

- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to prioritize multiple tasks/deliverables
- Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Accounting degree, CPA preferred
- A minimum of 3-6 years accounting experience and familiarity with areas of multi-national financial reporting and multi-currency consolidations, SEC reporting, public company experience preferred
- Experience working in a consumer-packaged goods (CPG), fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and/or consumer durables industry preferred
- Solid understanding of general ledger systems and foreign currency translation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel is a must
- Prior SAP, Blackline, Hyperion Financial Management experience is a plus
