About the Role

As a Sr. Accounting Specialist, you will support the agency’s day-to-day operations, including our network of thrift stores. Profits from these stores fund our programs and services, making them accessible to all youth in Idaho who need them.

The Idaho Youth Ranch is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, which offers student loan forgiveness on qualifying loans under specific conditions. Speak with your loan provider for more information.

This role is located in Idaho, and candidates must be within a reasonable distance of one of the Idaho Youth Ranch locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll-related general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation to facilitate inquiry responses, census filing, and grant expenditures.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other payroll-related financial accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review and validate financial data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of payroll-specific principles, records management, and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to analyze payroll-related information and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Applied Associate’s degree in accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or comparable ERP systems.
  • Experience with Paylocity or comparable HRIS/Payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable financial regulations.
