Job Purpose
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the oversight of payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. You will also manage payroll operations through process and system enhancements, oversee new legislation governing payroll requirements, manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, lead payroll regional transformation projects, and partner with regional HR Operations teams to ensure payroll processes are seamless and efficient throughout the employee lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage payroll operations through process and system enhancements.
- Oversight of new legislation governing payroll requirements.
- Manage relationship with 3rd party payroll provider to ensure optimal performance in the delivery of all payroll services.
- Responsible for leading payroll regional transformation projects, including payroll migrations and transition activities.
- Partner with regional HR Operations team to ensure payroll processes are seamless and efficient throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Oversee payroll accounting processes to ensure timely completion of all activities.
- Identify, establish and track key operational metrics; identify trends, root causes and solutions to improve operational service delivery.
- Train, and become proficient in, payroll, benefit and 401k platforms for the purpose of processing payrolls, with strong knowledge of eligibility, annual caps, employer matches, benefit plan limits, time off compliance, etc. as needed.
- Ensure accurate and complete work in these areas: payroll compliance; state payroll taxation; garnishments; registrations; 401(k)s; Workers' Compensation; W-2s, etc.
- Responsible for implementation and/or conversions of payroll and benefit plans, working collaboratively with management and HR on setting up and integrating systems following prescribed schedules, as well as auditing employee payroll related information to ensure a smooth and accurate transition.
Requirements
- Minimum – Associates Degree in Business or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant working experience in processing multi state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Knowledge of state registrations and payroll tax and compliance activities.
- Experience in payroll system implementation.
