About the Role
This position is responsible for a wide array of accounting, payroll and tax related matters. Successful applicants will have a good understanding of the principles of accounting and internal controls along with an awareness of the elements of taxable income and reporting requirements.
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Master's degree preferred.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Must have a solid understanding of accounting concepts, preferably with experience in an Accounting role
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and ability to analyze problems and data accurately
- Must be able to identify trends or patterns in data
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must have excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong understanding of internal controls necessary
- Continuous process improvement mindset; improving business practices and streamlining processes is a must.
- Ability to multi-task and easily adapt to change
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Responsibilities
As a key member of a small, high-performance team, the Payroll Accounting Specialist will:
- Run automated interfaces to import payroll transactions into the general ledger.
- Review and reconcile transactional data to ensure processes are complete and accurate.
- Prepare and execute shadow payroll reporting procedures for international employees.
- Prepare payroll accruals including accrued wages, vacation, incentive compensation plans and payroll taxes.
- Perform analytical procedures to ensure balances are accurate and identify discrepancies.
- Perform monitoring procedures to identify interim adjustments and year-end true ups.
- Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations ensuring all items are cleared in a timely manner.
- Perform analytical procedures to detect weaknesses and discrepancies, perform root cause analysis and implement procedures to improve overall effectiveness.
- Act as the main liaison with Human resources and shared resources services (SRI) for payroll related functions.
- Prepare reports and supporting documentation for inter/intra company transactions in a global multi-currency business environment
- Perform imputed income, wage reporting and hypothetical tax procedures for U.S. and ex-patriate employees.
- Internal and external audit support: provide documentation for audit requests, perform walkthrough demonstrations of accounting processes and provide ad hoc queries and data reconciliations as needed.
- Cross-train with others positions in the department to expand Labor Accounting knowledge.
