Sr Accountant, Inventory Accounting (Remote)
About the role
The Senior Accountant, Inventory Accounting (Offshore Operations Lead) directs the day-to-day execution of inventory accounting activities performed by the offshore team. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of transaction processing, reconciliations, and control execution across inventory-related processes in compliance with US GAAP (ASC 330).
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the offshore inventory accounting team, ensuring accurate, timely execution of reconciliations, transaction processing, and control activities
- Own the quality and completeness of offshore results, providing direction, review, and ongoing coaching to drive consistency and accountability
- Ensure inventory transaction flow integrity and compliance with US GAAP and SOX controls across SAP S/4HANA and JD Edwards
- Care for coordination and support of month-end and quarter-end close by validating offshore outputs, resolving issues, and partnering with the broader accounting team
- Support audit activities by ensuring offshore-prepared documentation and analyses are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, standardization, and control execution across inventory operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of inventory accounting experience, including valuation and reconciliation
- Strong understanding of US GAAP (ASC‑330; familiarity with ASC‑606 is a plus) and SOX controls, with expertise in accounting and reconciliation principles, particularly in relation to inventory operations
- Proficiency in ERP systems—SAP S/4HANA and JD Edwards E1 preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
- Ability to build and maintain complex queries; PowerBI development experience is beneficial
- Clear, effective communication skills and capacity to work cross-functionally with a high degree of ownership
- Experience with Blackline or similar reconciliation/reporting tools a plus
