Sr. Accountant/Financial Analyst
Position Summary
Prepares in-depth financial analyses and research to support and facilitate timely management decisions and/or financial reports or statements. Analyzes and evaluates financial implications of business decisions or transactions on financial results. Researches, evaluates and interprets financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools. Develops and manipulates complex financial models for support and analysis of business initiatives. Works with departments to ensure an understanding of financial consequences resulting from various actions. Provides support for internal and external auditors by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues and implementing recommended changes. Develops, designs, tests and documents system changes or upgrades. Represents finance on corporate teams and initiatives. Prepares complex journal entries, complex/higher risk account reconciliations and participates in month-end procedures. Performs employee benefit accounting and reporting. Prepares and balances the insurance company Annual Statement supplemental schedules filed with the regulators.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
Experience: Experience as a Financial Analyst/Accountant or similar position
Preparing and developing financial reports
Using automated accounting and/or management reporting systems
Preparing, analyzing and interpreting in-depth analyses of financial and or statistical data
Model development and manipulation using Microsoft Office products
Overseeing and guiding assigned individual deliverables to successful completion
Financial reporting (e.g. financial statement preparation, review and analysis)
Applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Insurance Statutory Accounting Principles
Preparing complex journal entries
Preparing complex account analysis and general ledger reconciliations
Knowledge and Skills
Communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
Analyze complex financial data

Preferred Experience
5+ years of accounting experience
Use of automated accounting systems (e.g. Workday, PeopleSoft)
Insurance industry knowledge/Statutory accounting experience
Preparation of audited financial statements
Preparation of insurance company statutory annual/quarterly statements
Researching GAAP and statutory accounting guidance
Work Environment
This position works from a home office location. Depending on the role, some employees may be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or team building events.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
