About the role
Energy Transfer is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Crude Accounting team in Houston, Texas. This role supports the Crude Oil Acquisition and Marketing business, focusing on crude oil volume actualization, inventory reconciliations, transportation expense payments, and analytical reporting. The position also involves settlements with customers, monitoring and reconciling General Ledger accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial and operational reporting.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a commitment to process improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively across operational, commercial, and accounting teams.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the monthly close process, including actualizing crude oil volumes for pipeline/terminal locations and reconciling volumes to supporting statements.
- Process and submit transportation payments related to pipeline and terminal activities.
- Settle monthly receivables and payables with external customers.
- Monitor vendor and customer balances in SAP.
- Work cross-functionally with Scheduling, Trading, other crude accounting teams, and Pipeline groups to achieve team goals.
- Coordinate and address requests from corporate (internal and external), third-party customers, and audits.
- Maintain documentation and evidence of controls performed to ensure SOX compliance.
- Initiate and implement system upgrades as needed (e.g., RightAngle).
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency through automation and system enhancements.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- 5-8 years of relevant experience (Senior Analyst level).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- General knowledge of marketing transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RightAngle and SAP.
- Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, or Robotic Process Automation tools.
