Sr. Accountant - Captive Insurance
About the role
The Sr. Accountant at Innovative Captive Strategies (ICS) plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing complex captive insurance programs. Reporting directly to the leadership team, this individual collaborates closely with clients, regulators, and internal teams to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review captive financial statements
- Provide accounting oversight and ensure regulatory and corporate compliance
- Lead the day-to-day and long-term management of assigned captive insurance programs
- Act as a strategic advisor to clients on captive design, optimization, and performance
- Analyze and communicate financial results, including underwriting performance, surplus, reserves, and projections
- Prepare and present board materials, financial reports, actuarial analyses, and business plans
- Coverage with actuaries, auditors, attorneys, fronting carriers, reinsurers, and regulators
- Ensure compliance with captive domicile requirements and governance best practices
- Identify opportunities for innovation, program enhancements, and captive growth strategies
- Mentor and support captive team members, fostering development and collaboration
- Participate in client board meetings and strategic planning discussions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, risk management, finance, insurance, business, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in captive insurance management or related risk consulting
- Strong knowledge of captive structures, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience managing complex client relationships
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Professional designations such as ACI, CPCU, ARM, CPA, or similar
- Experience working with multiple captive domiciles
