A VACO client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the financial operations their growing construction business. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing project accounting, supporting month-end close activities, and helping drive financial performance across multiple construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations.
- Oversee construction job costing and project accounting activities.
- Review project budgets, costs, and revenue recognition for accuracy.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and support financial forecasting.
- Assist with cash flow management and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support external audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
- Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and controls.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction accounting required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proven ability to manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience with job costing, project accounting, and WIP schedules.
- Proficiency in general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams and project managers.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
