Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a non-profit organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is a long-term contract position focusing on overseeing daily transaction activity and contributing to reliable month-end reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review, approve, and post financial transactions to ensure accuracy and alignment with accounting standards.
• Manage accounts payable process.
• Prepare and record journal entries as part of routine accounting operations and period-end close activities.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean and accurate financial data.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Contribute to month-end close by organizing supporting documentation and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.

Requirements

• Proven experience in senior staff accounting or a closely related accounting role.
• Strong background in month-end close processes and general ledger accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high level of accuracy.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
