We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Tacoma, Washington. This role is ideal for someone who can manage critical close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and help ensure the integrity of the company’s accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead key activities tied to the monthly close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is complete and reliable.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and clear adherence to accounting standards.
- Maintain and review general ledger activity to confirm transactions are recorded accurately and classified correctly.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Complete bank reconciliations by comparing account activity, identifying variances, and following through on outstanding items.
- Support the accuracy of periodic financial reporting by validating balances and coordinating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Analyze accounting records to identify unusual trends, missing information, or inconsistencies that could affect reporting quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with hands-on responsibility for core accounting functions.
- Strong background in managing month-end close activities within a fast-paced business environment.
- Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and the preparation of journal entries.
- Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving unreconciled items.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in financial recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining consistent quality.
