Sr. Accountant
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, support month-end and year-end close processes, manage invoicing and cash activity, and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections to ensure accurate financial records.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, support variance analysis, track expenses, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities. Provide data and insights to support finance leadership and operational teams.
- Serve as a resource for internal teams on accounting-related matters, support employee expense programs, and assist with WEX card program administration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Support internal controls, audit preparation, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to resolve accounting issues, respond to inquiries, and support day-to-day financial operations.
Skills
- Accounting Fundamentals: Strong understanding of general accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Systems & Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Concur, bill.com, WEX, or similar platforms.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and support problem-solving efforts.
- Organization & Time Management: Effectively manages multiple responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicates clearly and works effectively across teams while providing responsive support to employees and stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing priorities, business needs, and evolving processes.
About the role
This position is based in our headquarters office in Schaumburg and follows a hybrid work schedule.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
