This long-term contract position supports core accounting operations in a construction and contractor environment, focusing on month-end close activities, financial record accuracy, and reconciliation of key accounts.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy.
- Record and post journal entries to support routine and adjusting transactions across the accounting cycle.
- Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet and other assigned accounts to confirm completeness and accuracy.
- Complete bank reconciliations regularly and investigate unmatched transactions or variances.
- Analyze financial data during the close process to identify inconsistencies and recommend corrective action.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather supporting documentation and clarify accounting items when needed.
Requirements
- Strong experience managing month-end close processes in a detail-focused accounting environment.
- Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting and the preparation of journal entries.
- Proven ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Hands-on experience completing bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize work in a deadline-driven setting.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
