Sr. Accountant
About the role
NovoEd is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This highly visible role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a high-growth environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter and clear communicator who is comfortable working with systems and consistently looks for process improvements. This hands-on role will play an integral part in all aspects of accounting operations and provide opportunities to work on a variety of projects as NovoEd scales. The Senior Accountant should enjoy a fast-paced environment, work well as part of a team, and be able to prioritize individual and team objectives. This position reports to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Own and complete the monthly and quarterly close processes, including accounts receivable and payable, payroll, fixed assets and prepaids, cash management and bank reconciliations, accruals, and journal entry processing.
- Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll. Set up and maintain employee records in the payroll system. Prepare related journal entries and reconcile payroll-related GL accounts.
- Create and send out customer invoices, collect customer invoices, and meet with the Financial Manager regularly to discuss past due invoices and expected payments.
- Support tax and compliance filings, including sales tax, 1099 reporting, and benefits compliance testing. Prepare audit schedules and provide audit support.
- Document, implement, and maintain appropriate accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements that scale and automate manual procedures and calculations.
- Support Finance systems implementations and automation efforts, strengthen data quality, and help make the close more efficient and predictable.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for Management.
- Prepare quantitative and qualitative variance analysis and report monthly and quarterly for presentation to management.
- Assist in the review of customer contracts and determining appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
- Administer the following systems: Ramp (for employee expense reimbursements), (A/P), TriNet (payroll/employee records), Fidelity (401K contribution deposits).
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource to other Finance partners and complete special projects, reports, and analyses on an ad hoc basis as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience required, including general ledger, payroll, AP/Accruals, and month-end close responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606.
- CPA (active or intending to pursue licensure) is highly preferred.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong drive to grow and succeed.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Box/DropBox, TriNet, and/or Ramp is a plus.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, and analysis of large data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a high-growth start-up environment.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.
- A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to distinguish routine processing from issues that require escalation or technical review.

Pay
Sr Accountant $80,000—$90,000 USD plus 10% bonus opportunity.
