Sr. Accountant
Location: Charlotte, NC – 4x/week onsite, 1x/week remote
Duration: Through end of year, with possibility of extension
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support our payroll accounting function (not payroll processing) following a recent migration of HCM systems. Working as part of a two-person team, this individual will reconcile payroll to source data across weekly on/off cycles, analyzing, researching, and compiling differences that have arisen since the system conversion to determine whether manual adjustments are warranted. The role involves a retroactive review spanning from October 2024 to present, requiring strong critical-thinking skills and a solid understanding of payroll mechanics—specifically how payroll works and when journal entries are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile payroll to source data across weekly on/off cycles
- Analyze, research, and compile differences arising from HCM system conversion
- Determine whether manual adjustments are warranted based on reconciliation findings
- Prepare journal entries in SAP (Oracle experience preferred)
- Perform retroactive review of payroll data from October 2024 to present
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Large enterprise experience (not QuickBooks or small operations)
- ERP system experience
- General ledger experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Strong Excel skills (V-lookups, Pivot tables, payroll analysis, large data sets)
- Experience with journal entries and account reconciliation
- Understanding of payroll mechanics and when journal entries are necessary
Qualifications (Pluses)
- Master of Accountancy
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Candidate
- Oracle HCM Fusion experience
- SAP experience
