About the role

Ashley | The Wellsville Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead accounting and financial reporting for multi-store retail operations across New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. This role involves owning month-end close, general ledger management, account reconciliations, and the preparation of accurate financial statements and analysis. You will support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls, and partner closely with operations leaders to explain results and drive performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close for multi-store retail operations
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and management dashboards for leadership
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to drive profitable decision-making
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies and procedures
• Oversee journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, and inventory-related accounting activities
• Collaborate with operations and store leadership to explain results and improve financial performance
• Assist with audits, tax support schedules, and documentation for external partners
• Identify process improvements, streamline reporting, and leverage systems to increase accuracy and efficiency
