About the role

This is a hybrid role based in Maple Plain, MN, requiring onsite presence Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a Senior Account Manager (SRAM) at Protolabs, you will manage 30 to 40 high-value accounts, acting as the key point of contact. Your focus will be on customer satisfaction, retention, and business growth for complex accounts. You’ll drive Protolabs’ growth by deeply understanding customer business initiatives, needs, and challenges, and leveraging Protolabs’ service line solutions to co-create innovative solutions. By building coaches and champions within customer organizations, you’ll expand wallet share while enhancing efficiency and profitability for both the customer and Protolabs.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively drive, organize, and facilitate business reviews and customer meetings.
  • Align with customer KPIs and utilize Protolabs business analytics (technology, SFDC, DOMO, best practices) across the customer’s product life cycle and service lines.
  • Understand the customer’s business and use that knowledge to provide solutions that penetrate the account.
  • Sell across all service lines and align the customer with Protolabs’ full product life cycle capabilities to create competitive advantage.
  • Fluently articulate key value propositions, address customer bottlenecks/objections, and map product life cycle supply chains from source to end customer.
  • Pursue individual development and may provide input and guidance for other team members.
  • Identify key customer contacts—both champions and coaches—at multiple levels across departments.
  • Lead and leverage account team members and internal resources to achieve customer expectations and grow account value.
  • Accountable for operational results and connected to operational excellence, spending less than 50% of time on day-to-day account operations.
  • Manage and grow accounts across multiple service lines and customer locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in B2B sales (or 3+ years of Protolabs experience), ideally with Fortune 500 customers.
  • Consistent high performer with a proven record of growing sustainable customer business partnerships and strong internal Protolabs relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive customer growth through projects, programs, and agreements.
  • Proactively build strong internal relationships across Protolabs’ ecosystems with cross-functional partners.
  • Proactively identify, build, and maintain relationships with customer coaches and champions to provide creative solutions and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficient with CRM tools for managing the sales process and forecasting to provide insight to stakeholders.
  • Well-versed in all Protolabs’ service lines, understanding the manufacturing product life cycle, and connecting customer needs with Protolabs’ full-service offering.
  • Strong culture promoter who embodies Protolabs values.
  • Consistently source leads and identify new business opportunities by maintaining a robust pipeline.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written, at all organizational levels.
  • Technical aptitude for engaging in high-level conversations related to manufacturing and engineering.
  • Proficient understanding of customer value propositions and ability to articulate how Protolabs’ solutions improve customer business objectives.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset with a continuous improvement lens.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a focus on achieving/exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong negotiation skills for project requirements, customer documentation, and financial conversations.
  • Ability to adopt new initiatives and think creatively outside the box.
  • Ability to self-analyze individual performance to optimize selling strategy, effort, and revenue attainment.

Pay

Base salary range: $94,200–$125,500 USD/year. Total cash range: $150,200–$200,000. Compensation mix varies based on position, including base wage, incentives, and commissions. Actual pay offered will depend on job function, experience, skills, training, education, and certifications.

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring onsite presence in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
