About the role
Northern Trust, a Fortune 500 company founded in 1889, provides innovative financial services and guidance to sophisticated clients. They are seeking a Sr. Account Manager to join their team in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
Responsibilities
- Captures account administration for fiduciary, investment management, estate settlement, guardianship, and/or custody accounts for complex client relationships.
- Maintains knowledge of governing documents and account agreements.
- Communicates with clients and partners regarding service requests and obtains necessary information to facilitate service changes or transactions.
- Coordinates resolution of client issues and keeps clients informed of account set-up, status, document requests, or other information.
- Collaborates with the Client Support Services Team on account servicing events, including account opening and closing, cash movements, and fee setups.
- Aids Trust Advisors, Estate Settlement Administrators, Guardianship Administrators, and/or Client Advisors in the account acceptance process, discretionary request analysis, compliance management, and annual account reviews.
- Ensures appropriate documentation is collected and imaged, systems information is updated, and fees are accurately set up and reviewed.
- Documents services provided, specialized procedures, and ongoing written communications with clients as needed.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of various business applications critical to relationship management, including client online tools.
- Aids Trust Advisors, Estate Settlement Administrators, Guardianship Administrators, and/or Client Advisors with business development and client presentations.
- Identifies service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery using creative and proactive measures.
- Serves as a key subject-matter expert and mentor to more junior-level employees.
- Manages daily operational activities and supervises day-to-day work of junior-level employees (but not a formal management role).
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- In-depth functional/industry knowledge of personal trust, estate, guardian, and advisory services and products, typically gained through related work experience.
- Knowledge of internal bank trust functions.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
- Technical skills/systems knowledge.
Skills
- College or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience preferred.
- 5-7 years experience in financial servicing or related experience/credentials preferred.
