About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Contact customer representatives and ascertain equipment/system problems.
  • Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial applications, including wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pumps.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc., in order to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Must have the ability to work alone.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler and Suppression systems.
  • Retain any licenses that are required by National, State, and Local codes.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Adequately adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Must be able to follow, read, and understand all safety requirements of the company and the customer.

Preferred

  • NICET Level II certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems is beneficial.

Pay

Hiring hourly range: $28.71 - $39.50 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
