About the role

Revere Control Systems is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the Instrumentation Division of Polk County Utilities. This position provides hands-on technical support for instrumentation and controls related equipment across a large and diverse utility infrastructure network.

Responsibilities

  • Supports critical infrastructure systems through field service, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation support services.
  • Provides hands-on technical support for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities, manufacturing, process, or similar field service environments.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems.
  • Diagnose issues involving PLCs, SCADA systems, VFDs, telemetry systems, MCCs, relays, and process instrumentation.
  • Support water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, lift stations, well sites, and related utility infrastructure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and operational system checks.
  • Support equipment startups, commissioning, and field-testing activities.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and control documentation.
  • Document field findings, calibration records, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, contractors, and project managers.
  • Maintain safe work practices while operating around industrial electrical and process equipment.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule supporting 24-hour utility operations.

Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience in field service.
  • Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet.
  • Completion of OSHA safety training/certification.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Self-motivated and a proven ability to take charge of a task and complete it with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience with specialized tools, test, and calibration equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.
  • Technical school, associate degree, military technical training, or equivalent field experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage field assignments.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Able to work safely in industrial and municipal utility environments.

Qualifications

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for company insurance coverage.

Skills

  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities, manufacturing, process, or similar field service environments.
  • Working knowledge of 4-20 mA analog signals, including measuring loop current and understanding how a field transmitter signal is used by a PLC or SCADA system.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic signal problems involving field devices, loop power, wiring, terminations, input cards, scaling, and process conditions.
  • Ability to use a multimeter and basic test equipment safely on control circuits, power supplies, relays, fuses, terminals, and field wiring.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, control drawings, panel layouts, and related field documentation.
  • Safe work habits, including lockout/tagout awareness, electrical safety, and good judgment around energized equipment.
  • Support water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, lift stations, well sites, and related utility infrastructure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and operational system checks.
