Sports Staff

About the Role

The Hickory Foundation YMCA is seeking dynamic, hardworking, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team in the sports department. This role involves assisting in the planning, developing, and execution of all programs offered, with a focus on making a positive difference in the lives of children. The ideal candidate will be a reliable and positive role model, consistent with the Christian mission and policies of the YMCA of Catawba Valley.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, and executing all programs in the Sports Department
• Obtain CPR and First Aid certifications (provided by the YMCA)
• Supervise sports staff, coaches, and referees in a mature, respectful, and professional manner
• Communicate effectively with volunteers, members, and parents
• Assist in completing game schedules for all sports
• Help secure sponsors for the Annual Giving Campaign
• Lead summer sports camps
• Prepare coach/parent packets for teams in each sport
• Handle printing and possible delivery of schedules or registration forms
• Market and display sports information within the YMCA branch
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with coaches, referees, and participant families
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment by following YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
• Fun-loving, kid-focused, and hardworking
• Possess a current NC driver’s license
• Previous experience and knowledge in soccer, baseball, flag football, volleyball, and basketball preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred

Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Basic understanding of fiscal management and budget processes
• Ability to endure standing outside for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs

Pay

USD $11.00 /Hr.
