About the role
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Sports + Recreational Designer to join our Sports Team in Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; Providence, RI; Boston, MA; or Norwell, MA.
Responsibilities
- Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of plans, specifications, and reports for sports facility projects including athletic field layouts, playing surfaces, spectator amenities, and supporting infrastructure
- Develop design calculations, technical memorandums, and construction documents under the guidance of senior engineers or technical leadership
- Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard engineering practices and relevant codes, standards, and permitting requirements specific to athletic and recreation facilities
- Monitor project progress and coordinate design efforts to support schedules, budgets, and overall project delivery
- Take responsibility for significant portions of sports facility projects with oversight from senior staff or management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
- Experience on construction project sites, interfacing with client and contractor
- Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Office required
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
Skills
- Technical proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards
Benefits
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
