About the role

The Sports Director at the Semones Family YMCA, under the supervision of the Regional Sports Director, will support the effective administration of sports programs. This role involves planning, organizing, promoting, implementing, and evaluating sport programs while working closely with the Semones Sports Team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, promote, implement, and evaluate sport programs.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and recognize part-time staff and program volunteers in accordance with Association policies.
  • Facilitate scheduling of staff and payroll.
  • Maintain accurate records for program control, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with other Directors to maximize facility usage.
  • Share responsibility for cleanliness, maintenance, field and gym preparation, and equipment safety.
  • Develop and maintain promotional materials and social media communication for sports programs.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA, building relationships with community groups and agencies.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and inventory control of program supplies.
  • Participate in staff committees, meetings, and trainings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Association personnel policies among indirectly supervised staff.
  • Support branch administration and the Annual Campaign as assigned.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills and a cordial manner.
  • Experience in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
  • Strong or general knowledge of soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and other sports.
  • Basic understanding of facility, equipment, and program management.
  • Current driver’s license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance; ability to drive to multiple locations on practice nights and game days.
  • Ability to work 36-40 Saturdays a year, as well as evenings and weekends when programs or related functions occur.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Physically able to move freely throughout facilities, lift 50 pounds, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Visual, hearing, and physical dexterity to substitute as a sports referee.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly to articulate accurate information.

2+ years of professional work experience preferred. Must obtain all trainings and certifications required by YMCA guidelines for this position.
