About the role
As a Sports Book Attendant, you’ll be a front-facing, guest service professional with a basic understanding of sports and betting structures. You’ll assist guests in placing and redeeming bets at the Sports Book counter or kiosk, reporting to the Sports Book Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Write, verify, and process payments on sports wager tickets in accordance with department policies and jurisdictional gaming regulations.
- Maintain a cash bank for your shift, handling payments and making correct change.
- Stock and keep Sports Book Writer/Cashier stations neat, clean, and adequately supplied.
- Write and pay out sports tickets accurately and promptly, verifying tickets and payoffs.
- Maintain and reconcile your assigned shift bank following established cash-handling procedures.
- Explain wagering rules, betting lines, and odds to guests.
- Provide friendly, courteous assistance to customers to ensure high-quality guest service.
- Offer information on activities and direct guests to further resources as needed.
- Enter player tracker information and create new player tracking accounts.
- Notify management of escalated guest issues, concerns, or suspicious activity.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a high-stress, high-volume environment.
- Ability to work in and adapt to a dynamic, frequently changing environment.
- Adhere to and execute established department policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of sports.
- Proficient cash-handling skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic math skills to calculate winnings based on odds.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to department and company standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum six months of cash-handling experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a race and sportsbook preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar resort environment preferred.
- Bilingual (with English as primary or secondary language) preferred.
