Sports Anchor/Reporter

About the Role

ABC7-DC has an immediate opening for a Sports Anchor/Reporter. If you are a passionate and energetic storyteller who can enterprise and deliver fast-paced, visually compelling multi-platform content, this role is for you. In addition to covering professional teams, you will find and cover a variety of unique, local sports and sports-related human interest stories. You must embrace a ‘digital first’ reporting strategy.

Responsibilities

• Research, shoot, edit, write, and report stories, tracking down important stories wherever they may lead.
• Produce daily content for television, web, social networking sites, and mobile platforms.
• Demonstrate polished live anchoring skills with the ability to ad-lib.
• Post content to websites and leverage social media tools (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) for on-air and online use.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced newsroom under deadline pressure.
• Exercise sharp news judgment and maintain strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of reporting experience.
• Anchor experience required.
• College degree in journalism or communications strongly preferred.
• Experience with live shots.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Mastery of social media tools and understanding of their use on-air and online.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.

Pay

The annual compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $119,646. Final compensation will be determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
