Speech Therapist

Department: Therapy • Per Diem • 8-hour day shift (8:00 am – 4:00 pm) • Dallas Medical Center – Farmers Branch, TX

Responsibilities

• Conduct communication assessments and provide evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in acute and medically complex settings.
• Provide cognitive-communication therapy targeting attention, memory, executive function, and problem-solving in patients with neurological conditions.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing, communication strategies, and appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to support functional outcomes.
• Treat patients across ICU and Inpatient Rehab addressing feeding, swallowing, congenital, critical care, and other communication needs.
• Enhance quality of life and safety by supporting safe oral intake, restoring communication, and promoting cognitive-linguistic recovery.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of employment.
• Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, free of disciplinary action – OR – Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF) considered on a case-by-case basis with proper supervision.
• Minimum one year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Current BLS for healthcare providers certification.
