About the role

The SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP) serves as a key member of the teaching and learning department, responsible for preventing, identifying, assessing, and providing intervention for students with speech, language, and related impairments and disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the prevention of speech-language disabilities through consultation and as needed provide in-service training sessions.
  • Identify speech-language disabilities through pre-referral interventions, and referral process.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and informal assessments to assess students' speech and language abilities.
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on assessment findings and students' specific needs.
  • Set measurable goals and objectives that align with the students' present levels of performance.
  • Make recommendations and work with other professionals to coordinate programs for therapy purposes.
  • Provide evidence-based intervention and therapy services to address speech and language disorders in individual sessions, group sessions, or classroom sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation of student performance in alignment with goals and objectives, including assessment results, IEPs, and regular progress reports provided to parents every nine weeks.
  • Participate in the post high school transition planning for the student.
  • Select and requisition needed speech materials and supplies.
  • Attend various continuing education conferences and in-services.
  • Assists with special projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • CPR and CPI certification preferred

  • License and Registrations: Current driver's license in good standing
