About the role
Provide direct therapy to assigned students in a preschool program and Early Intervention program.
Responsibilities
- Administer and interpret speech and language diagnostic tests
- Auditory training habilitation
- Assist in developing IEP goals and objectives
- Collaborate with classroom teachers in coordinating speech/language learning activities
- Communicate regularly with parents to facilitate transfer of learning beyond the school setting
- Confer with audiologists to optimize the student’s use of listening technology
- Develop and implement therapy goals and objectives based on diagnostic assessments
- Maintain all required student records and generate necessary reports
- Provide services to families within our Early Intervention program
- Supervise SLP-A’s
- Use a variety of speech/language assessments
- Work in a collaborative environment with classroom teachers, SLPs, OTs, PTs, etc.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders
- ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Massachusetts State Licensure (or eligible to apply)
- Initial Teacher Certification in Massachusetts (or willing to apply)
- Experience working with students with hearing loss is desirable
- Ability to distinguish challenges due to hearing loss vs. additional disabilities when necessary
- Strong assessment and report-writing skills
- Solid organizational and interpersonal skills
- Sincere desire to work in a listening and spoken language educational environment
- Experience with the IEP process
- Experience providing service through tele-practice is desirable
Qualifications
- Knowledge Of The Following Normal speech and language development, child language disorders, and remediation techniques
- Knowledge Of The Following Auditory training habilitation
- Knowledge Of The Following Language-based learning difficulties
- Knowledge Of The Following Social communication/pragmatic difficulties
