About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist serves as a key member of the educational team, providing specialized services to students with speech-language impairments. They collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement effective communication, literacy, and behavior support strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Informs faculty members about the speech-language program, including referral methods, intervention strategies, MTSS supports, testing procedures, and scheduling students for therapy sessions.
  • Organizes and manages a caseload schedule based on the needs of each school and students, adhering to state and district guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate attendance logs and updates Medicaid records monthly.
  • Participates in comprehensive evaluations and assists with reevaluations of students with speech-language concerns.
  • Develops and implements materials for speech-language therapy, classroom communication, and MTSS.
  • Serves as a resource for school personnel, study groups, and community organizations.
  • Attends Child Study Team meetings as necessary.
  • Works collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and is licensed in Speech-Language Pathology through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. New graduates with temporary licenses and clinical fellowship year supervision are also considered, with the requirement to obtain full licensure within the state of Kansas and the Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders preferred.
  • Licenses in Speech-Language Pathology through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
