About the role
The Specimen Processing Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Specimen Processing department, including responsibilities for Imaging/Microfilming, Test In Question, and some Problem Resolution. They also manage client service functions, ensure safety and ergonomics, and maintain a professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the department, including Specimen Processing, Test In Question, and Problem Resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local licensure requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure its review for internal and external inspections.
- Train and supervise employees, ensuring they meet competency requirements and comply with compliance guidelines.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies for the department.
- Implement and monitor continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in managing fiscal responsibilities, including cost containment programs and capital expenditures.
- Participate in QMS and Process Improvement Teams to meet business objectives.
- Prepare and administer annual performance reviews.
- Organize and lead projects, both within the workgroup and with cross-functional teams.
- Meet all deadlines assigned by the manager and work effectively with technical departments to resolve problems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years in a Group Leader/related role.
- Five years of experience in a laboratory, preferably with a medical or production background.
- Previous experience in people leadership roles.
Skills
- PC skills, MS Office applications.
- Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of systems tools such as COGNOS, Oracle, EMPower, Kronos.
