Specialty Pharmacy Technician
About the unit: The pharmacy department at Dearborn is responsible for providing medication reliably and safely for our patients. We are a resource for medication information for providers, staff, and patients. Pharmacy spans across the continuum of care, from outpatient to inpatient, ambulatory and specialty to critical care.
Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital has proudly served residents across Southeast Michigan since 1953. With 632 beds, it is a major teaching and research hospital and home to five residency programs and a cardiology fellowship in partnership with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The hospital is verified as a Level II trauma center, accredited by the Joint Commission as a primary stroke center, and known for clinical excellence and innovation in orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart and vascular, and cancer care.
Responsibilities
- Operate in designated areas or job functions within the site location under moderate direction and supervision.
- Function relatively independently with some decision-making responsibility; may interact with other departments and/or businesses outside of the pharmacy department.
- Demonstrate enhanced knowledge/training in assigned area above and beyond a pharmacy technician.
- Participate in training of employees in the area of specialty.
- Assume ownership and ensure quality and completeness of work assigned.
- Responsible for data collection and/or reporting related to assigned area/project.
- Serve as a role model and leader in the department.
- Escalate concerns identified in the area of work through the chain of command.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance (including USP [795], [797], [800] in sites that perform sterile compounding).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience in pharmacy
Qualifications
Preferred: State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License (LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI) – required upon hire.

Schedule
- Full time, rotating shift
- 40 weekly scheduled hours
- Variable hours and days worked
- Every other weekend
