Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate-site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, as well as retail customers. Retail & Specialty Pharmacy ensures the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional guidelines. Technicians may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional working relationships with pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
  • Adapt to varied and changing requirements as departmental demands evolve.
  • Be available and accessible to customers and patients at all times.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude when interacting with customers.
  • Keep the pharmacy safe and clean by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Organize medications for pharmacist dispensing by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.
  • Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts and accomplish related tasks as required.
  • Work with the pharmacy team to follow best practices regarding 340B programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Tennessee pharmacy technician license required.
  • National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) preferred.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of retail pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Understanding and experience with 340B programs preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smartphones, and tablets.
  • May require vendor credentialing.

Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks, readily learns and applies new information, maintains appropriate licenses and certifications, and works on routine assignments with some problem resolution. Works within defined procedures, adheres to quality guidelines, and operates under moderate supervision with regular review of output.

Pay

Anticipated hourly range: $18.90 - $24.30 per hour. Bonus eligible: No.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
