Specialty Pharmacy Manager
About the role
This is a full-time position located at a Community Health Center in Ohio. This position will report to the Vice President of Pharmacy Services. In the absence of a VP of Pharmacy Services, this position will report to the next level manager unless otherwise defined or assigned.
Responsibilities
- Maintain oversight and participate in all specialty pharmacy services, providing clinical guidance and overseeing decision-making for the specialty pharmacy program.
- Deliver direct care, therapeutic recommendations, and counseling for patients with chronic conditions via the Patient Management Program, protocols, or collaborative practice agreements.
- Actively lead the pharmacy's Quality Management Committee, oversee the Quality Management Program, and champion quality initiatives at the pharmacy location.
- Implement, oversee, and report on Quality Improvement Projects throughout the pharmacy locations.
- Optimally initiate the Patient Management Program to complete initial and re-assessments, and create appropriate care plans for patients requiring specialty medications.
- Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy interns and students.
- Support other AndHealth and Health Center providers and staff to address patients' clinical needs.
- Review payor formularies and complete prior authorizations and appeals as necessary for patients.
- Manage specialty pharmacy operations; supervise and participate in the full pharmacy production workflow—including insurance adjudication, filling, verification, and packaging.
- Participate in URAC and ACHC specialty pharmacy accreditation preparation and visits, ensuring all required information is documented appropriately in specialty pharmacy software.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or equivalent FPGEC (NABP).
- Unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Ohio.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain licenses in multiple states.
Other Skills or Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct patient care experience in pharmacy is required.
- 5+ years of pharmacy management experience preferred.
- BLS is required (or must be willing to obtain within 1 week after starting).
- Immunization delivery certification is preferred (or must be willing to obtain within 3 months after starting).
- Specialty pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple things simultaneously.
- Comfortable with technology and the ability to adapt to new systems.
