The Clinical Professional Development Specialty Educator enhances professional practice and quality patient care in a designated specialty across hospitals in their assigned division. This role leverages deep subject-matter expertise to deliver evidence-based educational programs that promote professional competency for nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Provides and assists with orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention through the division.
- Conducts orientation in a manner that facilitates a positive learning environment.
- Participates in the development, coordination, and management of competency assessment and validation.
- Identifies learning needs of specialty staff through on-site review or metrics.
- Develops activities to address identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, and practice.
- Plans and delivers educational content that encourages learner engagement.
- Assesses practice gaps and collaborates with the clinical education team to evaluate and adjust programs based on feedback.
- Promotes lifelong learning and utilizes the novice-to-expert continuum in staff development.
- Monitors compliance with laws, regulations, and industry practices, communicating key performance indicators for clinical education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Required).
- Master’s degree in nursing (Preferred).
- 2+ years of clinical education experience (Required).
- 3+ years of experience in an acute care hospital (Required).
- 3+ years of experience in clinical education, clinical specialist roles, academia, or leadership (Preferred).
- Current state nursing license as appropriate to education (Required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required).
- Specialty certification recognized by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (Required).
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
