Key Responsibilities

  • Patient check-in and check-out
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments
  • Pre-register and verify insurance prior to appointments
  • Manage insurance-related issues and questions
  • Collect and update patient demographic and financial information
  • Explain departmental/hospital policies and charges
  • Collect applicable payments
  • Answer incoming calls and direct patients appropriately
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and back-office staff to ensure accurate scheduling

Success Benchmarks

  • Within 3 Months:
    • Comfortable with patient check-in/check-out processes
    • Able to independently reschedule appointments
    • Confident handling patient phone calls
  • Within 6 Months:
    • Able to independently verify insurance coverage
    • Managing registration and scheduling functions with limited assistance

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in a healthcare setting

  • Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding
